Mumbai,:SEEPZ-SEZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) is a premier Special Economic Zone located in Mumbai, India, primarily focused on the export of electronics and jewellery products.As part of its commitment to sustainable development, SEEPZ-SEZ continually engages with industry stakeholders to promote green initiatives and eco-friendly business practices.In a remarkable initiative to enhance environmental sustainability, Shri Dnyanshewar B. Patil, IAS, Zonal Development Commissioner of SEEPZ-SEZ, in collaboration with the Trade Industry, successfully launched a tree plantation drive at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority Special Economic Zone (JNPA-SEZ) on November 28 ,2024 . The event marked the celebration of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which was officially launched by Shri Bhupinder Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Environment Forest and Climate Change, and Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, on World Environment Day.As part of this initiative, it has been committed to planting approximately 9,000 trees at the JNPA-SEZ in association with Units at SEEPZ-SEZ i.e. M/s Fine Jewellery Mfg. Ltd., M/s Elegant Collection, M/s Sunjewels Pvt. Ltd., M/s Jewelex (India) Pvt. Ltd., M/s Inter Gold (India) Pvt. Ltd. M/s DNJ Creation LLP, M/s Gold Star Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., M/s Uni-Design Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Renaissance Global Pvt. Ltd.This tree plantation drive is a significant step towards achieving sustainability goals within the region, and it stands as a testament to the ongoing efforts of SEEPZ-SEZ and its partners in enhancing green cover, reducing carbon footprints, and contributing to environmental preservation.The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri CPS Chauhan, Joint Development Commissioner, IRS, SEEPZ-SEZ, Dr. Prasad Varwantkar, Deputy Development Commissioner, IRS, SEEPZ-SEZ, Shri Jay Shah, IRS, Specified Officer, Arishya FTWZ and other officers from SEEPZ-SEZ. In addition, Shri Sohil Kothari, Director of M/s Fine Jewellery Mfg. Ltd. Ltd. and his team also participated in the occasion, reinforcing the strong commitment of the business and trade community towards environmental stewardship. The event was also attended by Shri Nitin Borwankar, Chief Executive Officer, JNPA SEZ, officers and stakeholders of JNPA-SEZ, who all gathered to support this green initiative, reinforcing the shared vision of sustainable growth and environmental responsibility.
