Mumbai:Abhishek Ghosalkar, former Shiv Sena corporator and the son of an ex-MLA, was shot over a personal dispute in the Dahisar area in Mumbai on Thursday. Abhishek was taken to Karuna Hospital in Borivali in a serious condition where he died. The incident took place days after a BJP MLA was caught on camera firing at an Eknath Shinde faction leader inside a police station at Ulhasnagar raising questions over Maharashtra’s law and order situation.
Uddhav Sena leader Sanjay Raut demanded deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’s resignation over the Mumbai firing incident. Former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray said there has been a total collapse of law and order in Maharashtra. Before meeting Mauris at his office, Abhishek met Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday.
Abhishek was the son of Vinod Goshalkar, an old-timer of Uddhav’s party. He was the chairman of the Mumbai Buildings Repairs and Reconstruction Board. Abhishek’s wife too served as a corporator when the ward became reserved for women.The incident took place in the limits of MHB Colony police station in the Dahisar area.
Abhishek, a former corporator, was rushed to a hospital where he died.
A ‘Facebook live’ video of the incident, which showed Abhishek being shot in the abdomen and shoulder, went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, the body of one Mauris Noronha, accused of shooting Ghosalkar, was brought to the hospital. He had allegedly shot Ghosalkar before dying by suicide and reportedly streamed it all live on Facebook, reported news agency ANI.
